Top Cats carsOn Saturday 11th and Sunday the 12th June, Bitpod was asked to film the progress of the Top Cats racing team. With three cars and six drivers, Top Cats is a serious team with a long history of competing in the Britcar championships. On arrival we were issued with press passes which enabled us access to most track-side and pit lane areas.

Saturday was a fantastic sunny day and we managed to obtain some nice footage of the cars in the awnings, the practise laps and the qualifying race. Using the GoPro camera mounted inside the car, we were able to film the driver during the race including a driver change in the pits. After the race we interviewed the drivers, team manager and support team as well as James Tucker the Britcar founder.

Sunday started wet and progressively got wetter. This created many filming challenges because even though the camera has a waterproof jacket, driving rain was causing the lens to get rather wet. Wet racingAfter a thorough drenching we eventually retired to the stands followed by the pit garage. Unfortunately one of the cars we were following left the track due to standing water and suffered some substantial damage. Luckily the driver was unhurt and was even happy to be interviewed to explain what happened.

Our mission is to create a DVD for the team and Britcar showing the events of the weekend. Overall a fantastic weekend although the weather could have been better!
